While playing the piano can be quite lonely at times, it should always be pleasurable and open up paths to new experiences. Like many other pianists, Despina Apostolou and Jeferson Ulbrich spent most of their time practising their solo piano repertoire.
Eventually, both pianists wearied of playing on their own and began to rehearse and perform piano music for four hands together, as the SAPiano Duo.
What started with a few meetings has now grown into a number of concerts and engagements in Germany and abroad. An unerring sense for the right choice of repertoire, constantly listening to each other and a common musical vision are all crucial aspects for the Piano Duo.
Solitary hours spent at the piano – which are still part of their work – have been transformed into a creative partnership and a musical experience shared with their audience.
